Why are your baking mixes different than others?
We set out to create mixes that were easy to make, helped build your confidence in the kitchen, promoted health, but most importantly, didn't sacrifice taste. During this search, Stellar Eats was born – as was our mission. To create healthy eats that taste like treats.
Our world is chalk-full of processed and refined foods that are high in sugar, sketchy chemicals and preservatives/gums/additives that wreak havoc on your health and digestive system. Our mixes contain no grains, gluten, refined sugar or dairy. But it’s not only about what’s not in our mixes, it’s about what is in them.
These mixes are made with whole foods in their purest form, contain no chemicals/additives/preservatives, use nut flours as a base and are sweetened with coconut sugar.
We are not saying that all grains are evil, but that we have come to grossly overuse them in our world (specifically refined grains that are stripped of all their nutritional value).
Inflammation has become a hot topic in the health world (for good reason). Chronic, low-grade inflammation has been linked to many inflammatory diseases (everything from arthritis to Alzheimer’s). At the top of the list of things that promote this type of inflammation in the body are white refined sugar and white refined flour. In using grain-free flours to make our goods and natural sugars found in coconut, our mixes help promote health in your body, not prevent it.
Further, with gluten-intolerance on the rise, we wanted to create a product that everyone could enjoy at their convenience without having to forgo traditional treats (because a world without chocolate chip cookies is not one that anyone should have to live in)
Even if you are not gluten-intolerant, our mixes are for you! Gluten binds to our opioid receptors making us feel ‘addicted’ and many people claim to feel sluggish and foggy even if they are not full-on intolerant. These grain-free goods will leave you feeling energized, mentally clear and promote blood-sugar balance (which is crucial for long term health, energy levels, hormonal balance and weight loss to name a few).
Are your products vegan?
Yes, our products are naturally vegan and can be prepared vegan through recipe substitutions:
- Chocolate Chip Cookie: substitute butter with softened coconut oil and replace the egg with a flax egg*
- Biscuit/Scone: Substitute egg with flax egg*
- Pizza: Naturally vegan
- Chocolate Cake: Substitute egg with flax egg*
*Flax Egg: 1 tablespoon ground flax dissolved into 3 tablespoons of water. Let sit for 10 minutes before adding.
our mixes that call for eggs turn out best with eggs. Using an egg replacement may slightly change the taste or texture.
Are your products gluten-free?
Yes, all of our products are free of gluten, and are made in a gluten-free facility.
What kind of sweeteners do you use?
We only use whole, low-glycemic foods to sweeten our cookie and cupcake mixes. We use sugars derived from coconut as we feel they are more beneficial to the body due to the minerals they contain (like magnesium, potassium, zinc and iron!) and they are lower on the Glycemic Index than other natural sweeteners like honey or maple syrup. We source our chocolate chips from Enjoy Life who uses a small amount of organic cane sugar in their chocolate chips – making our cookies super delicious! We try to keep our overall sugar content as low as possible (our cookies contain 8 grams of sugar per cookie, in comparison to a traditional cookie brand which has 14g per cookie.)
